新マスター・オブ・ワイン8人、30か国に計390人に

　マスター・オブ・ワイン協会は30日、8人の新たなマスター・オブ・ワイン（MW）の合格を発表した。5か国のうち2人が中国ベース。米国ベースだが、中国国籍を有する初のMWも生まれた。また、ワイン業界ではない英国の弁護士も合格した。これで世界最難関のワイン資格保有者は30か国から390人となった。

8人の新MW（ベース国）は以下の通り。

　Ragg MWは2017年に合格したFongyee Walker MWの夫。夫婦のMWは5組目。ほかの夫婦MWは、Peter & Philippa Carr、Serena Sutcliffe & David Peppercorn、Susie Barrie & Peter Richards、Lenka Sedlackova & Justin Knock。

 

　米国ベースのZhu MWはRagg MWとWalker MWが設立した北京の「ドラゴン・フェニックス・ワイン・コンサルティング」でも働く教育家。中国国籍を持つ初のMW。米国と中国を行き来している。ドラゴン・フェニックスは3人のMWを抱えることになった。

　Farnsworth MWは知的財産権を専門とするロンドンの弁護士事務所の共同経営者。ワイン業界以外で、MWに合格するのは極めて難しく、珍しい。

　今年2月には6人のMWの合格が発表されており、2019年の合格者は計14人となった。
